In November 2017, Joy Langley ran for Mercer Island City Council claiming she had a Cornell University degree. Eventually, the Cornell University administration issued a letter denying Langley’s claim. My understanding is that the City of Bellevue Police Department was asked to investigate and opened an investigation on whether Langley had violated state law by falsely claiming to have a Cornell University degree (the Langley matter).
I request the following public records under the Public Records Act (RCW 42.56):
(1) all communications, in email or in any other form, between the City of Bellevue, its Police Department, or any of its employees and the City of Mercer Island, its Police Department, or any of its employees on the Langley matter.
I understand that if the City withholds or redacts any records it must provide an exemption log identifying each record withheld or redacted, along with the legal justification. I further understand that whether provided or not, the City must retain and not destroy all requested records.
Please seek my approval before incurring any significant charges for this request.
